Abstract Mixed Media Painting 30/30 Challenge "Life Story" by Intuitive Artist Joan Fullerton

Day 4 of Leslie Saeta 30 in 30 painting challenge, I finished a workshop demo.

Looking inside the house image are journal notes.

Brown paper bags from the grocery store and found paper sticks are combined with a gel medium      embossed surface and pencil shadowing.

Abstract Mixed Media Painting 30/30 Challenge "Anticipation" by Intuitive Artist Joan Fullerton

Here is my 3rd painting of the 30 in 30 days.

Leslie Saeta's challenge has me in the studio everyday for hours!

For me a new year beginning is like an empty canvas...the anticipation is delicious!

What story do you see in these images? Do you see an empty swing hanging from the ancient symbol for a new day beginning? (Sun on the horizon.)  A small faded deciduous tree on top of a very large empty nest, the nest being hinged over obscure branches? Is that rain falling on only 1/2 of the bottom area? How does the large area of contemplative space affect you? The quiet colors? The subtle images contrasted with bold ones? Let me know.

Abstract Mixed Media Painting 30/30 Challenge "Leaving Home" by Intuitive Artist Joan Fullerton

I have signed on to Leslie Saeta's challenge to paint 30 paintings in 30 days.

Day 2 of Leslie Saeta's 30 paintings in 30 Days, I finished a collage begun in a class I was teaching.

Underneath this collage with bird and fractured nest is a hidden face
Knowing there is a face looking out from the painting is like having a bit of a secret.
I believe each mark made in the art process, is a record of energy that contributes "life" to the art.

Multilayered, with a Jazz-like, syncopated beat, this painting has LOTS of good energy.

Juxtaposing pieces from life makes a story...what story do you see illustrated?

Botanical Abstract Painting 30/30 Challenge "Growing Beyond" by Intuitive Artist Joan Fullerton

I have signed on to Leslie Saeta's challenge to paint 30 paintings in 30 days.

This is painting #1 of the challenge, painted Jan 1st.

Since I have a studio full of unfinished work, I decided to complete 30 of my unfinished  paintings.

Usually what is on the substrate when I begin, suggests a possible subject or composition.
The white flowers already existed on the top right, so I decided to abstract the remaining space  with swipes, drips and painted shapes.

I considered it finished, when I happened to notice some  scraps of printed picket fence on the  table. They seemed to fit the composition and provide  another element of meaning, so I glued  and painted them into the composition.

Now this  painting has a story...a story about finding  renewed enthusiasm for life when we  explore  beyond limits.

How perfect for the 1st day of  2016~!
